On the afternoon of December 5, 2021, nearly 200 members attended theBuddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) Toronto Chapter virtual AnnualGeneral Meeting (AGM). Thanks to moderntechnology, the BLIA Toronto Chapter prepared a PowerPoint presentation withabundant event pictures, so that members were able to witness the success ofthe 2021 collective works together. All participants were so proud of beingmembers of the BLIA Toronto Chapter.
The AGM commenced at 2 pm, with openingremarks by the President, Ms. Mabel Ho. She thanked all members for theirdedication and participation. The President also presented the annual report.She indicated that the BLIA Toronto Chapter has made impressive achievements in2021, a year of excellence even during the pandemic. Remarkable accomplishmentsinclude participation in the BLIA 2021 Global Buddhism Exam, the BLIA 2021Beauty of Buddha's Light – Faith & Legacy Photo Contest, 2021 BLIA NorthAmerica Virtual Fellowship Meeting, and 2021 North America Sounds of The HumanWorld Singing Concert, etc. The BLIA Toronto Chapter also organized 20 onlineprojects and programs of various categories. The number of activities organizedby all subchapters is as high as 670. The year 2021 has been blessed andrewarded with incredible success.
The Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto, Venerable Chueh Fanoffered words of encouragement. She pointed out that while celebrating the joyof collective success, we have to understand that serving others with acompassionate heart is an opportunity to cultivate merits and virtue.
The President Ms. Mabel Ho concluded by indicting thatin 2022, the BLIA Toronto Chapter will continue the work to benefit thecommunity, and follow the theme of “Wisdom and Innovation.”
