On September 2nd, 24 senior members of the renowned Centre Pauline-Charron Ottawa Community paid a visit to Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Temple of Toronto. The visit featured a Temple tour conducted by tour guide volunteer, Martyn Knowles. Under the guidance of Mr. Knowles, the guests came to appreciate and learned about Buddhism, FGS Temple facilities and fundamental Buddhist teachings in general.
From Dharma instruments to murals of Buddha statues, Martyn introduced the meaning behind the many sights of wondering the Main Shrine. The Water Drop Tea House is a perfect starting place for guests to get to know the spirits of Humanistic Buddhism. The meaning of Water Drop originates from a traditional saying of “repaying droplets of kindness with a stream of aspirations to benefit others.” Further on into the tour, the group viewed the collections of One-Stroke Calligraphy by the founder, Venerable Master Hsing Yun.
The coordinator of the Temple tour, Ms. Rolande Pitt, expressed gratitude to FGS Temple of Toronto on behalf of all the guests: “It is wonderful to be surrounded by the harmonious and peaceful ambience of the Temple! We plan to visit again next year, not only to participate in the Temple tour but also to hold on to the opportunity to gain a more in-depth understanding of the Buddha-Dharma.”
