The “2022 BLIA Affairs Executive Seminar” was held on February 20 by the Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) World Headquarters for five BLIA Chapters' executives in Canada, USA and Portugal. The five chapters included BLIA Toronto, BLIA Montreal, BLIA Colorado, BLIA Detroit, and BLIA Lisbon. The seminar aimed at helping executives to have a deeper understanding of BLIA affairs. All participants learned it by heart and vow to support the sustainable development of BLIA affairs in the region.
Venerable Chueh Fan, the Monastic Advisor of BLIA Toronto Chapter and Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto thanked Venerable Chueh Chung, Director of BLIA World Headquarters America Regional Office, for her time and efforts. Ven. Chueh Fan said, “In views of many BLIA chapters have re-election last year, the aim of the seminar is to facilitating new BLIA executives to have a thorough understanding of BLIA executive responsibilities."
Venerable Chueh Chung gave a lecture on BLIA affairs and the responsibilities of executives. She also explained the organizational structure of BLIA, the functions and operations of the secretariat. She used concise charts to introduce the organizational structure of the chapter/subchapter and explained in detail the responsibilities of the board of directors, the subchapter council members/leaders, and the duties of the Secretariat. She emphasizes that what makes a secretariat effective is maintaining effective records and administration, membership and financial management.
Venerable Chueh Chung said, "Everyone has the ability and the power of making vows." She encouraged all BLIA executives to vow to be a "Humanistic Bodhisattva," to create history for oneself, to benefit the family, society and the world.
Venerable Chueh Yan, the Monastic Advisor of BLIA Lisbon, and Venerable Man Rang, the Monastic Advisor of BLIA Colorado expressed thanks for the opportunity, which enabled the BLIA executives to know more about BLIA and to have more confidence in themselves and the operation of the BLIA affairs.
