As the year comes to a close, the 6th Meadowvale Scout (BLIA Toronto Scout) annual Campfire Gala unfolded on the afternoon of December 17th, 2023, in the Dining Room of Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Temple of Toronto. In addition to the Scout members, invitations were extended to Venerable Chueh Fan, the Abbess of FGS Toronto, Venerable Ru An, the Scout Monastic Advisor at FGS Toronto, and parents.
This Campfire Gala served as a reflection on the year of 2023 scouting activities. To elevate the festive atmosphere, the Scout Commissioner Ken Choi and team leaders actively prepared, while the Scouts engaged in vigorous practice, resulting in anexciting and diverse Campfire Gala this year.
The event commenced with leader David Lo singing "Campfire Burning" and "We Got the Scouting Spirit." The younger Beaver Scouts presented a film adaptation of the Christmas song "Share the 3 Goodness," and the Club Scouts showcased the "4 Givings and 3 Acts of Goodness."
A highlight was the Scouts' original short play, "Reaction of Grinch," conveying the idea of a tolerant, compassionate heart as the foundation of a peaceful and happy life. Additionally, Venture Scouts performed familiar Christmas songs on accordion and orchestral instruments, infusing the event with a cheerful festive atmosphere.
Jada, a former volunteer Scout now in university, returned to express gratitude for the positive impact scouting had on her leadership skills and personal growth. She encouraged all Scout members to actively participate in activities, becoming positive and confident individuals.
As the event concluded, Venerable Chueh Fan commended the Scout's performances.
