The Mississauga subchapter 1 of the Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA) organized a "Vegetarian Health Diet" Workshop at the Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto on March 23rd. The workshop aimed to deepen members' understanding of a vegetarian healthy diet and promote the "Vege Plan A." Subchapter President Bonnie Huang expressed gratitude to Venerable Yung Kang for providing guidance despite her busy schedule, emphasizing the importance of nutritious eating and Buddhist principles in staying healthy.
Venerable Yung Kang, the guiding monastic of the subchapter, and subchapter member Miukuen Leung shared insights with over 60 attendees. Venerable Yung Kang stressed the importance of self-care and using natural ingredients to nourish the body, advocating for moderation in eating habits. Miukuen explained the concept of healthy vegetarianism, highlighting the significance of unprocessed whole foods and the role of essential nutrients in maintaining optimal health.
The workshop concluded with a healthy refreshment: mixed bean salad with whole grain mixed rice and an interactive Q&A session. Members expressing appreciation for the new found knowledge and the deliciousness of vegetarian food.
