On March 3rd, the Richmond Hill (RH) subchapters 1, 2,and 3 of the Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA) came together to host a vibrant "2024 Spring Gathering" at the Buddha's Light Centre in Markham. Nearly a hundred members and volunteers, including esteemed guestssuch as subchapter Advising Monastic Venerable Miao Tsun, BLIA Toronto Vice President Rachel Fan, Director of Supervision Winnie Kwong, Secretary-General Monica Kong, and directors, participated in this joyous event.
President Sally Kwok of the RH subchapter 1, expressed gratitude to the volunteers and members for the dedication and pledged to continue serving the community. She hoped that members would continue to support and participate in subchapter activities, contributing to the shared legacy of the BLIA. Presidents Peyton Kong of RH subchapter 2 and Grace Ho of RH subchapter 3 echoed, extending warm wishes for the event and the year ahead.
Venerable Miao Tsun commended the progress of the Richmond Hill subchapters under the diligent efforts of all members and committees. She emphasized the importance of health and spiritual well-being in the pursuit of Humanistic Buddhism. Vice President of the BLIA Toronto Chapter, Rachel Fan ,shared her Dharma joy in becoming part of the Buddha's Light family, wishing everyone a year filled with auspiciousness andjoy.
The gathering featured captivating performances, including the "Song of Ten Cultivations" led by Venerable Miao Tsun, mesmerizing dance performances by Teacher Zhu Jiamin, and heartfelt poetry recitations by Feng Zhirui and Feng Zhiyu from the Buddha’s Light Children's Dharma Class. Interactive games added to the festive spirit, creating a joyful and engaging atmosphere.
President Peyton concluded the event by praising the participants' wonderful performances and announcing upcoming activities for the new year. The gathering provided a rich array of refreshments, with a conscious effort to promote sustainability by avoiding disposable tableware.
