At the end of year 2022, BLIA Toronto Da Jue Subchapter held its AGM on December 26, 2022 in Markham BLC to look back at the past year and plan for the future. In addition to reviewing the results of subchapter’s hard work, members also got the chance to learn about several motions to be promoted next year as well as various upcoming CNY events.
This event was the first in-person subchapter event since the pandemic. More than 40 members including their family members and friends attended and brought their well-prepared vegetarian dishes to share. Subchapter Committee also prepared gifts for the members.
John Lu, President of Da Jue Subchapter, presented the work report using an interesting video. It included subchapter activities, chapter activities and volunteer projects taken care of by Da Jue subchapter members. It showed the great effort from the subchapter in the past year and the active participation in the affairs of BLIA Toronto.
Next, Venerable Miao Mu, the Guiding Venerable of the subchapter, together with John Lu, explained the various motions for 2023 from BLIA World Headquarters. They encouraged the members to strive for more participation, more support and more achievements.
Venerable Miao Mu made a closing speech. During the speech, she asked everyone to never stop learning and practicing Buddhism and always remember to take care of our inner self and change our bad habits. As the pandemic is easing down, she hopes everyone can come back to the temple, the home of Dharma Body and Wisdom, more often to get in touch with good role models and make progress together.
After the meeting, everyone enjoyed the delicious food while playing a number of team building games. Celine, the daughter of John Lu, performed her self-learned dance which won bursts of applause. Amidst the laughter of the audience, the AGM ended successfully. Everyone looks forward to the next gathering in the near future.
