As the year 2022 and the pandemic coming to an end, the three BLIA Toronto Da Tzu Subchapters are making great efforts to bring a variety of activities to members, both online and in person, in accordance with the efforts of BLIA and FGS Temple of Toronto.
On December 17, three Da Tzu subchapters jointly held the 2022 AGM at 2:00 p.m. at the Meditation Hall in the temple. All members gathered together to look back at the past year and look forward to the future. BLIA Toronto Board of Directors Sue Hutchinson, Emily Qi, Xin Li, Wei Hu and Ken Su were specially invited to attend the event.
Nearly 60 members recited "Ode to the Triple Gem" with Venerable Man Long, the Guiding Venerable of the subchapters, which marked the first in-person event in the past three years. The meeting includes the work report, financial report, proposal discussion, and presentation of the 2023-2024 committee election results and presentation of the election certificates.
During Venerable Man Long’s speech, she said, "We haven't met like this for a long time. Today is really a rare occasion, and it’s so happy to see all of you gathering here together!" She also introduced the Temple’s Chinese New Year activities and advised on the Sunday’s Dharma Service time change, and also encouraged everyone to come back to the temple more often to pay respect to the Buddha.
After the group photo session, Venerable Man Long and the subchapter presidents handed out specially prepared gifts to the attendees. The General meeting ended in a happy and warm atmosphere.
