On the afternoon of December 17th, BLIA Toronto North York Subchapter 1 and 2 held the 2022 Annual General Meeting at Markham BLC. 35 members and guests attended this in-person event in excitement. Venerable Miao Mu, the Guiding Venerable of the subchapters, Mabel Lam, the president of BLIA Toronto, Rachel Fan, the vice president, and two board of directors, all joined the event.
The subchapter’s president thanked the members for their enthusiastic participation in various activities throughout the year. Every member promoted Humanistic Buddhism and practiced the Three Acts of Goodness and the Four Givings. Next, the president presented the 2022 annual activities report, which included Chinese New Year celebration, online reading club, food bank donation, "I Love the Earth" gatherings, Cloud and Water Van for Buddha Bathing, BLIA 30-year anniversary exhibition, VegRun, Father's Day celebration, Drive-through Sangha Offering, creative vegetarian recipes sharing and "What's in the library" free public resources sharing and etc.
Three proposals presented by the new 2023-2024 subchapter president Grace Lee were also unanimously approved by all members. The proposals were to promote the "Good Affinities" book club, promote the VegePlan A activities, and promote members to participate in the BLIA World Headquarters Conference in October next year.
After the group photo, Venerable Miao Mu hosted a lucky draw, and ten lucky members won prizes. After the meeting, the subchapters prepared exquisite refreshments and fruits for all the attendees. Everyone enjoyed the snacks and cherished this gathering.
