On June 25th, The Buddha's Light Lion and Dragon Dance Team organized an exciting outing. The group gathered at Jack Darling Park in Mississauga, where more than 90 participants, including coaches, members, and parents, joined in the gathering. This outdoor gathering marked a successful conclusion to the team's spring session.
Under the guidance of team leader Tom Ly, the group mobilized its leaders and members to make the meeting a special and memorable event. They brought over 30 delicious vegetarian dishes and exquisite desserts, which were enjoyed by all. With great teamwork, everyone worked together to set up tents and chairs, whilst serving and supporting each other. Various activities and games, such as badminton, boating, swimming, and volleyball, were arranged in the gathering.
Venerable Ru Xing, the Advising Monastic, complimented the Lion and Dragon Dance Team for bringing immense joy to people through their performances on various occassions, such as the Chinese New Year's Eve and the Veggie Food Fair. Venerable Ru Xing likened their service to that of a Bodhisattva, highlighting the compassion and selflessness with which they serve the public. She called upon everyone to applaud the coaches and themselves for choosing the right path.
Venerable Ru Xing and Tom Ly presented Anson Lu, who gained admission to the University of Waterloo this year, with a certificate of completion. The Venerable and Tom wished him success in his future endeavours, as he embarked on a new journey to university.
