To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Buddha’s Light International Association(BLIA,) Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto and the BLIA Toronto Chapter arranged a special photo exhibition, and the grand opening ceremony was held on May 15th. Special guests included Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie, the Director of BLIA World Headquarters, Glenn Chan, the Advisor of BLIA Toronto Chapter and Advisory Member of the Overseas Community Affairs Council, Timothy Yu, the Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto, Venerable Chueh Fan, and the President of BLIA Toronto Chapter, Mabel Lam, to cut the ribbon together. More than 100 members participated and witnessed the celebration.
Mayor Crombie expressed her gratitude to FGS and BLIA of Toronto for the long-term support and dedication to the City of Mississauga, especially in terms of culture, charity and public services, and various significant contributions. She said, "As a mayor, I am extremely proud of Mississauga for having a Buddhist community that is actively involved in the community. Thank you for making our community a better place; wishing the citizens of Mississauga more growth, success and opportunity in the future."
After cutting the ribbon, Venerable Chueh Fan and President Mabel Lam introduced and explained the origin and significance of holding the BLIA Worldwide Photo Exhibition. Mayor Crombie carefully read "The Origin of BLIA", and she admired the appeal and action of the BLIA, as well as the team spirit of Fo Guang members.
The exhibition is open to the public from May 15th to June 19th. Friends from the community are welcome to visit the FGS Temple of Toronto.
