Mayor Crombie’s 2021 Thanksgiving Food Drive raised CAD650,000 and 370,000 pounds of food this year, which exceeded the original goal of CAD400,000 and 200,000 pounds of food. Mayor Crombie expressed appreciation to Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto and BLIA Toronto Chapter for the support.
In appreciation of the generous support that the community groups and the public showed in the “2021 Mayor’s Thanksgiving Food Drive,” Mayor Bonnie Crombie invited representatives from all groups to the Mississauga Food Bank to receive the Certificate of Appreciation. Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto and BLIA-Toronto were represented by Venerable Miao Mu and President Ms. Mabel Lam.
The CEO of Mississauga Food Bank, Ms. Meghan Nicholls, stated that the generous donation from the food drive will not only enable the neighbours in the community to have a warm Thanksgiving, they also help the food bank in preparing for Christmas too.
