Sharing the Dharma Through Hiking and Song

May 22, 2023

The Da Ci Second Subchapter of Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA) of Toronto held the "2023 Outdoor Hiking" on May 22nd. More than 40 subchapter members, families, and friends participated in the event.

It was a beautiful sunny day, at the beginning of the event, Venerable Man Long, the Monastic Advisor, led everyone in reciting the "Heart Sutra" and wished everyone a safe and enjoyable time.

After a brief self-introduction, everyone sang the "Ten Practice Song" together. With the gentle breeze as a companion, they embarked on the one-and-a-half-hour hike along the tree-lined Credit River trail, covering approximately 5 kilometres.

Following lunch, Venerable Man Long shared stories of Venerable Master Hsing Yun with everyone. Venerable Man Long pointed out that Venerable Master treated all his disciples equally, regardless of their abilities, and often asked, "What else can I do for you?"

Venerable Man Long expressed that it is truly a blessing to become Venerable Master’s disciple. She encouraged everyone to read "The Complete Works of Master Hsing Yun" to deepen their connection with him. She also urged everyone to take pride in being BLIA members. Even though the Venerable Master had passed away, his spirit and aspirations must continue to be upheld and implemented.

Members also expressed their gratitude to the Venerable Master and shared their reflections on Fo Guang Shan and Humanistic Buddhism. The outdoor hiking concluded successfully with everyone singing the "Dedication of Merits."
