On February 18, the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka His Excellency, Harsha Kumara Navaratne came to Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto to pay tributes to Venerable Master Hsing Yun during the Food Offering Ceremony. The High Commissioner showed his respects by performing three full prostrations to the late Venerable Master. In addition, he penned a message of condolences that thus went: “Venerable Master Hsing Yun had devoted his life towards the cause of propagating Humanistic Buddhism core values on the world stage. The late Venerable Master established Buddhist Colleges and post-secondary institutions of great global education and cultural heritage. Sri Lanka is honoured to have known and accepted his many blessings and contributions to Buddhism and beyond. On the behalf of the Sri Lanka government and people, I here expressed our utmost condolence and well wishes of Venerable Master’s attainment of tranquility.”
