Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto held the Offering to the Buddhas and Celestial Guardians Dharma Service from February 8 to 9. Venerable Yong Gu, Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Temple of Ottawa was invited to preside over the Dharma Service. More than 400 devotees participated both in person and online, while 40 young adults sincerely performed offerings, welcoming the Triple Gem and celestial guardians to receive them. The Dharma service began onthe evening of February 8 with a purification ritual and the invitation of the Buddhas and deities, followed by the main offering ceremony on the morning of February 9. The event was conducted with solemnity and Dharma joy, leaving participants deeply inspired.
The Offering to the Buddhas and Celestial Guardians is not merely about presenting exquisite food; it is an expression of gratitude toward the Triple Gem and celestial Dharma protectors. Following the Buddha’s guidance, these celestial beings safeguard the Dharma and protect all sentient beings. Under the guidance of the Venerables, volunteers prepared offerings with sincerity and reverence, ensuring that each dish was beautifully arranged, radiating purity and solemnity.
The 40 young adult offering team members performed their roles with dignity, respectfully presenting offerings before the Triple Gem and celestial guardians. Their devotion and focused presence enhanced the sacredness of the ceremony. The congregation rejoiced in their meritorious efforts, offering heartfelt prayers for the blessings of the Triple Gem and the protection of the celestial Dharma guardians.
Following the ceremony, Venerable Yong Gu delivered a Dharma talk, commending the dedication of all volunteers who contributed selflessly with joyous hearts and sincere devotion. She encouraged everyone to appreciate the merits of the celestial protectors and, in the face of worldly challenges, to seek their blessings for peace and harmony. Furthermore, she reminded devotees to purify their thoughts, speech, and actions and to dedicate their merits and spiritual practice for the well-being of all.
