Bodhisattva Path

Find Your Inner Power

A good life experience begins with offering services to others. Share your skills and expertise with others by becoming a volunteer.

Volunteers are usually loving and virtuous persons who serve others out of free will, kindness, humanity, and charity. They are devoted to volunteer work that benefits others and society. Although their services are free, their contributions are invaluable. People have felt younger when they volunteer at the Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto.

Join Us in the Bodhisattva Career of Benefiting Oneself and Others

When you come to the Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto, someone will always warm up to you with “Jixiang”, which means “Auspicious Greetings”. Why do they look so happy? What are the benefits to volunteering?

Buddhist volunteers, like bodhisattvas with a thousand eyes and hands, carry out the good intentions of Buddhas and bodhisattvas, with many deeds that are touching and moving. To volunteer is to offer one’s heart and life, and to give one’s time and energy. Therefore, volunteers are bodhisattvas who practice what they are preaching.

Principles for Volunteers (Venerable Master Hsing Yun):

  • Speak loving words — Offer encouragement, gentleness, and joy.
  • Work together with others — Cooperate harmoniously with mutual respect.
  • Help, assist and support others — Benefit society through selfless action.
  • Be willing to give — Give time, strength, and joy without expecting return.
