On Monday, November 25, Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto celebrated International Meatless Day with its 2024 Neighborhood Appreciation Day, featuring a vibrant vegetarian food tasting event. Nearly 250 attendees, including local business owners, educators, corporate employees, and community residents, gathered to enjoy a day rich in cultural, educational, and culinary experiences. Venerable Chueh Fan, Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto, led a team of over 50 monastics and volunteers who worked tirelessly to foster stronger connections with the local community.

On November 20, Emmanuel College at the University of Toronto hosted its first Buddhist-centered spiritual gathering, attracting over 100 faculty members and students. The event, organized by Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto under the guidance of Abbess Venerable Chueh Fan, introduced participants to Humanistic Buddhism through a series of presentations, interactive sessions, and a communal vegetarian meal.

Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto hosted an orientation session for new volunteers on November 17, attracting nearly 100 participants, with a significant proportion aged 14 to 35. This surge of youthful enthusiasm has infused the temple’s volunteer team with fresh vitality and energy. Abbess Venerable Chueh Fan, addressing the attendees under the theme "Volunteers, Unite!", highlighted the teachings of Fo Guang Shan founder, Master Hsing Yun.

On November 16, Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto hosted an inspiring Dharma talk by Venerable Yi Kong, Elder Venerable of the Fo Guang Shan Monastery and Director of Fo Guang Shan Culture Council. The lecture, titled “The Changes and Constancies in Su Dongpo’s Life,” drew nearly 400 participants in person and online, offering profound insights into how Buddhist principles can guide individuals through life's dynamic and unchanging aspects.

On the evening of November 16, at the invitation of Venerable Chueh Fan, Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto, Venerable Yi Kong, Elder Venerable of the Fo Guang Shan Monastery and Director of the Fo Guang Shan Culture Council, engaged in an intimate and insightful dialogue with nearly 50 young participants from the Fo Guang Toronto Youth Academy and the Toronto Young Adult Division (YAD). The gathering encouraged a meaningful exploration of the deep connection between Buddhism and youth, offering valuable perspectives on Buddhist practice, life choices, and personal growth.

On November 13, Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Temple of Toronto welcomed participants to the Interfaith Council of Peel’s Annual General Meeting. 30 representatives from 12 religious and community organizations gathered both in person and online. The event brought together a diverse interfaith community, including voices from Christianity, Catholicism, Judaism, Islam, Baháʼí, Hinduism, and Buddhism. Governmental representatives from the Region of Peel, Peel Regional Police Religious Affairs Office, Peel Newcomer Strategy Group, and Metamorphosis Network also attended.
